Surfline Swell Forecast / Event Update July 3rd, 2007

Surfline Swell Forecast / Event Update Week of July 3rd, 2007

Iquique, Chile International Tow-In Surfing Championship
Gottaplay.com / APT World Cup Tour
Association of Professional Towsurfers (APT)
Holding Period / July 1, 2007 - September 1, 2007

To Competitors and Media;

At this point it does not look like we'll see a swell that will measure up to the standards set for the contest in either the short or longer term.

While charts and models indicate a fairly sizeable SSW to S swell will line up from Saturday the 7th through Monday the 10th, it looks like the swell will top out in the double to triple overhead range (10-15'+ faces), which is below the threshold set for the contest to run. This storm has actually not yet happened so if it really blows up in the next couple days we might make adjustments to the forecast, but that's what I'm seeing right now.

Going further out, high pressure will take over most of the eastern half of the SPAC later this week and through the weekend (and likely beyond) with only minimal surf out of the region by the middle of next week (around the 12th) and potentially through at least mid month.

Unless we see a significant change to the above forecast our next update will come through by Tuesday, July 10th. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July.
