Holding Period / July 1, 2007 - September 1, 2007
To Competitors and Media;
We've got a fairly solid swell lining up for the end of the coming weekend and into early next week, with the strongest surf looking likely late Sunday afternoon/evening the 22nd through Monday morning the 23rd.
This swell is from a storm currently sitting roughly halfway between New Zealand and South America this afternoon. As long as this storm continues to live up to forecast in the next day or two, it looks like a 10-12'+ deepwater swell will prevail late Sunday/early Monday. Breaking wave heights would be in the 12-20' range, with a good possibility of some larger sets in the 22'-24' zone.
We'll need another 24-36 hours to confirm wave heights/wind speeds in the final phase of the storm but it looks like a fairly solid swell, although still a bit below the threshold of 35' faces that has been set for the event.
I'll issue another update by Thursday early afternoon, 7/19, with the final outlook on the swell. In the meantime, feel free to hit me up with any questions.
