APT is proud to announce the following confirmed list of main events and locations currently in development for the 2008/2009 season.
We are working with our resources to develop a WQE that will allow for new competitors to get involved. As soon as we have a confirmed location and date, we will add it to the list below.
APT will reserve the right to utilize it's wild cards to facilitate regional locals, sponsor's team riders and APT picks.
The APT World Tour Tow-In Surfing Circuit is judged off a universal point system that enables the APT to rank its competing professionals. The ranked list will be updated after each event has been held and winners have been announced. All APT sanctioned events will be governed by rules and a format set by APT. As the global tow-in surfing’s authoritative body, the APT writes and interprets the rules of the sport. The APT outlines the countless situations you may encounter as a promoter or competitor in ocean conditions and tells you how to proceed. You may access the APT Rule Book by going to our Rule Book page and clicking on the Rule Book link.
EVENT FORMAT:
Event formats will vary depending on team count, swell conditions and event venue.
APT will adopt 2-3 different format styles that have been used and proven successful in past tow-in surfing contests.
Selection of event formats are subject to change.
INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCES:
The APT is developing strategic alliances with other international tow-in surfing associations, watercraft governing bodies and volunteer organizations worldwide to expand the scope of its competitions. APT partners and alliances are being solicited worldwide.
PER EVENT SANCTIONING FEES:
All Event Directors will be required to pay a sanctioning fee per event held. Please refer to Rule Book.
THE LAWS AND REGULATIONS OF PWC USE:
Are available on our PWC Laws and Regulations Page and will be updated as the laws change.
